The Rib Cage
Back in Auckland now after a great weekend away in New Plymouth. All credit and thanks to fellow Blipper Waipushrink whose photo last week inspired the whole idea of going to New Plymouth. Awoke this morning to a clear and calm dawn, the perfect opportunity to cycle out to the Te Rewa Rewa bridge and try to capture the early morning light. Photographers are never satisfied, a few (little) clouds would have been nice, but it was a gorgeous morning all the same. Nice to see Waipushrink out there on his run again too.
I find this structure quite stunning - an award winning, innovative engineering design, and one of those rare occasions when it is at the same time functional and an evocative piece of artwork in the landscape. The more classic view of it as it frames Mt Taranaki (Egmont) can be seen on my Flickr site here
Managed a short run before having to check out of the hotel, then a late breakfast at Chaos cafe (highly recommended) and relaxing in the sun before heading out to the airport.
