White-winged crossbill

Found this little treasure while hiking on the Campbell tract, right in Anchorage. My bird identification app deems it rare, so it gets to be my Birthday blip. We had such a great day, at + 13 C, we were peeling off jackets while hiking. Had a delicious dinner at Simon and Seafort's, right on the waterfront in downtown Anchorage (fresh halibut for me). Now finishing the evening watching a movie. The boys have promised something with no severed heads to counteract last nights "Gorky Park".
