Up the Greens!

I had to do some mowing today at the nature reserve and built up quite a sweat in the lovely sunshine. Afterwards I thought it would be worth walking my butterfly transect, although that is in the higher, more exposed part of the reserve. Sure enough, just one butterfly seen, a strong wind and only13 degrees. Walking back through the reserve I checked some sheltered clearings in a block of scrub and was thrilled to see my first Green Hairstreak butterfly of the year. It perched in the sun for some time, allowing me to get a few shots. Shortly afterwards I saw my first Speckled Wood of the year.
