Hommage

Providing your guests with a private tram ride seems to be becoming a theme of these conferences. Last year in Helsinki. This year in Vienna. God help us if this conference ever comes to Edinburgh. I'm not going to be chartering the bloody tram....

Excellent breakfast meeting (after photographing the hotel of course) with the director of the host institute, followed by interesting networking meeting in the afternoon, including catching up with various people in the breaks. We were joined, in the evening, by lots of people who will be giving papers over the next few days as the networking meeting morphs into a conference - which I cannot attend. However, one of the papergivers is a really old friend of mine, and we enjoyed catching up over dinner at one of the Viennese Heurigen, and then later over a couple of glasses of red wine sitting outside a pub until the wee small hours.
