The Road As Traveled

The road that took you there can bring you back again.

Older, with a few more blemishes and scars, this bridges' continued usefulness is a testament to its design and maintenance. Once it carried 2-way traffic on a two-lane highway. With the four-laning of the road (almost 40 years ago) came a new span across the river to carry the opposing traffic. The plan at the time was to replace this old dame with a twin to the characterless-concrete-and-steel sister bridge.

For my part I'm glad that someone recognized the continued usefulness and contribution by something with a few years and some wear and tear on it.
