a bulbous hypocotyl...

Not sure what that means so I hope it's not rude. Anyway, I think this is celeriac which it seems is a root vegetable with a bulbous hypocotyl. Such a great phrase I just had to use it. Still in headless chicken mode at present, so I have to catch my blips where I can and whilst shopping for our meal tonight I was confronted with this wonderful root system. Sadly we didn't buy this particular vegetable but bought a bulbous swede instead - but that wasn't anything like as photogenic. Just typed celeriac into my key words box but doubt anyone will ever type that into the Search box.
