Birthday Celebrations

This year there truly was bunting and a cheering crowd lining the street outside my house on my birthday, though it has been suggested by those that I have since had flogged that this was because the Olympic torch was paraded past the house that morning. I was there to witness this rare event, but then set of with ChristieScruff to celebrate with a glorious birthday lunch. It was the hottest day of the year to date and the perfect place to be was beside the River Thames at Lechlade watching the ducks and swans on the glittering river gliding past in the hope of tidbits. Other entertainments from our table at the Riverside Pub included boats and rowers appearing in the arch of the adjacent bridge, and a field being harvested beyond.

We could have sat there all afternoon, but had a stroll around the riverside marina and into the village before driving on to Bibury (Wiki page), where a raging thirst was assuaged by a cappuccino outside the trout farm and an ice cream. A fabulous day.
