Start All Over Again

Oh dear. Bit of a long story here!

For the last month or so I smelled a musty sort of smell in my bedroom, as the airing cupboard is in there. Nobody else could smell it except me, I had the heating guy come out and check the central heating/tank etc. and he found nothing. Everything was dry, so somewhat reassured I tried to put it out of my mind.

I've not been there much the last couple of weeks, but on my return it still smelled weird. It was so frustrating not knowing where it was coming from!

Fast forward to yesterday. I came home after school to find a small brown stain under one of my spotlights in the kitchen. I called a plumber, and also my tiler who did my brand new floor, to pick his brains. He kindly offered to come at the same time as the plumber, and remove and check the toilet as that was the only thing we disturbed. I didn't think it could be that, and I was right.

The plumber guy suggested hacking through the back of my wardrobe to get to the bath, and reluctantly I agreed. Just as I started emptying all my stuff from my wardrobe, I got to lifting the last box out and noticed it was wet underneath, and the carpet....

And sure enough, when I peeled back the carpet, the floorboards were wet. Sigh. A leaking valve from the shower has been dripping for a while it seems. In the grand scheme of things this is trivia, but when it's your home it seems like the end of the world!

Plumber said I need a new part, so hasn't fixed it until tomorrow (hopefully) and I'm down £150 plus £120 for labour.

And I also have to repaint some of my ceiling, dry out the cupboard, order more carpet, and fill a plasterboard hole the size of texas in my closet.... I hate being a home owner.

So I've spent the day running here, there and everywhere, and also seeing to my poor mama, who has flu. She's so ill I've arranged a GP home visit tomorrow as he isn't well enough to go to the doctors. Fingers crossed she's a bit brighter in the morning.
