Rusty and twisted forks (non-original), on an old Carlton bicycle, in need of replacement.
Missing using this old workhorse. The substitute is so much heavier and slower. Having trouble finding replacement forks for it. Mainly because the frame is huge. Having some made, is an option. An expensive option. Will keep looking for now. Did see some being sold on the "big auction" website that might just be big enough. Probably should dismantle the thing to find out exactly what size the current ones are. Fitted them over twenty years ago. They were just big enough, and that was only after a lot of filing to make a bracket thinner.
The originals didn't take well to me somersaulting down the road with the bike. Nor did my helmet. Wouldn't be here today were it not for that helmet. Replaced it with one of the same type, as it had a proven track record.
