The High Level Bridge

The High Level Bridge spans the river Tyne from Gateshead to Newcastle. It is the oldest of the existing bridges opened in 1849 by Queen Victoria. Here we see the pedestrian walkway. The bridge recently underwent extensive refurbishment and since has only carried buses and taxis in a southerly direction.
