Thermal Water for Mono Monday
I decided I wanted an image of thermal water for this challenge because I live in a geothermal area. It is this form of water that sustains our tourist industry. We have a little park in the city where tourists can see steaming and bubbling geothermal activity for free. There was water in the form of rain all morning but I had a wonder around the park with a few other hardy visitors. There are small thermal lakes in the park but on a wet day the water and the steam both look grey and there is no contrast. Walking through the steam was lovely because it was warmer than the air temperature. This shot is of a mud pool and by researching I have learnt that it would have formed when steam and gas rose underneath a rainwater pond. The gases react with rocks to produce clay which makes a muddy mixture in the pools. That's my connection to water as an element.
