Wallace Monument
A glorious summers day in Scotland today.
Headed for Stirling. Not been there in ages.
Had a very pleasant lunch in a cafe which is situated on a farm just outside Stirling.
Great home-cooked food all made with produce off the farm. Fantastic views of the Ochil Hills. All very nice on an unseasonably warm day. Well I say unseasonably. More unusual for anytime of year. Just glorious. A great day to sit and do not alot!
So guilt set in, and we headed off.
The Wallace Monument commemorate William Wallace. Google it for the history. Or watch the film Braveheart for a Hollywood version of it (read inaccurate!).
It's a short uphill trek to reach the base of the monument. But well worth it. Great views. And even better views can be had by ascending the 250ish steps up the monument.
All in all, a very pleasant day out.
