Dining together

This mallard couple was the only pair of ducks could find on the river in Traverse City yesterday.  Actually, I haven't seen any this spring or all last winter, which is odd... it's been an easy blip spot for a water foul shot for years...  Normally I see 5 to 15 at a time when I head to this area, but lately it's been empty.  I wonder what's up?
