Layers of History

We visited Fountains Abbey today near Ripon. Initially built in 1134 it became a huge , very successful abbey but it all came to an end with Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century. It's a stunningly beautiful place , now owned by the National Trust and we spent several very serene hours there enjoying the scenery, the peacefulness and the beauty. Lots of bird life too. Couldn't decide which photos to use so decided to collage again. I know I can't use this as a 'layers' entry but thought it summed up layers of time and history , as well as architecture and nature ( tree and stone).
