Wednesday: Animafest

Yugoslavia, and Central Europe in general, had an amazing cartoon tradition from pretty much the sixties through to the nineties.  I have really fond memories of some of these cartoons from seeing them on TV in Germany where I grew up.

For the last 40 years, Zagreb has been home to Animafest, the world festival of animated film.  It is currently running so tonight we went to our local cinema to take in the European TV retrospective.  What a trip down memory lane!  We saw 11 cartoons, including Signor Rossi, Professor Balthazar, Lolek and Bolek, but, best of all, my absolute favourite, this little fella.

Tomorrow we are off to see some of the modern films entered into this year's competition.
