Graveyard Shadow

I took the dog for a walk via a little churchyard close to our house.  I had in mind to photograph the contrast of light and dark as I had determined to shoot only mono images.  I enjoy looking round graveyards and imagining the tales they could tell; I regard them as not full of dead people but people that have lived.

I was surprised to come across this grave as I did know three of the people.  The stone names Claire Griffin and the two small plaques are her sister Mary and husband Mike.  Alongside is an unnamed grave and then one that I presume to be of Mike's parents - Elizabeth and Eric. 

I knew Mike well.  He was a lovely man with the welfare of the village and its community always at heart.  In a way it is sad that there are no children to carry on the name or the memories.
