The Rundale Summer Palace

Designed by Mr Rastrelli 1735/36. He also designed St.Petersburg`s Winter Palace. Rundale was owned through the years by Latvian and Russian aristrocracy. Today a museum. Thinking of the thousands of poor souls that were brought from Russia to build this Palace, far away from everything, to serve the Counts, Dukes and their families and had to live there the rest of their lives. Rastrelli died in St.Petersburg 1771. I believe he managed to get a dance with Cathrine the Great before he died. Be happy you were not one of the poor souls that time. Enjoy your Saturday.
