Ducklings

Spring has certainly sprung.

I was pleasantly surprised to see these ducklings on our pond today, so early in the season. They made a very welcome distraction from painting the kitchen ceiling!

They were back later in the day and the little ones were zipping around chasing insects, even jumping out of the water sometimes to catch flies.

I hope Mum manages to look after them as so often we see the numbers in the brood reduce as they fall prey to the local foxes and other predators.
