You make me feel like spring has sprung
As a child I remember lots of flowers. We had a gigantic garden and my Grandad grew lots of flowers. He also had very rigid, structured flower borders around the front lawns. The only time there was freedom was when first the daffodils and then the bluebells flowered at the foot of the privet hedge (something else that was pruned within an inch of its life). He nurtured the rose beds and brought on cuttings to make new flowers. He, like his son (my Dad) spent hours in the greenhouse potting, repotting and tending. Personally I like the flowers that smell good. Like this hyacinth. It's one of a few that's in a pot outside my back door. They make me smile as I sniff the air as I walk out. Which is whole lot nicer than the odour from the dog food bin which is also outside the door.
