The Haven, Plotlands

To the East of London lies The Plotlands, an area of woodland owned by Essex Wildlife Trust.  The Plotlands used to be the location for a number of small plots of land sold in the first half of the 20th century to Londoners  who built weekend cottages, holiday bungalows or smallholdings.  Today all that remains of the "town" is a grid of grass tracks (that were once "streets" and a single building, The Haven, that has been turned into a Plotland Museum.  If you are in the vicinity of Dunton Road, near Basildon, The Haven makes an interesting visit as there are many artefacts from the past.
