Exquisite

We planted this magnolia tree in our garden some years ago, and it continues to be a joy.
After all, magnolias are prized worldwide for their flowers and the delicate form of the bloom.
Growing as large shrubs or trees, you cannot help but admire the showy, fragrant flowers they produce that are white, pink, red, purple or yellow.
I find it difficult to believe there are more than 200 species and while they are primarily native to temperate, subtropical and tropical areas of places like southeastern Asia, eastern North America, Central America, the Caribbean and parts of South America, they are equally at home here in the UK.
I recall regularly visiting one new housing estate in south-west London where it seemed every house had a magnolia in the front garden.
At this time of year it was simply marvelous and a sight to behold.
Yet although the life of blooms are short, they will flower several times a year which makes them all the more enjoyable. And what a picture they create.

That’s why I appreciate and admire them, because their flowers are exquisite and beautiful, their shape delicate and wonderful, and they create a warm welcome each time I turn into the driveway.
