More tenements

D#1 has just moved into a tenement flat very close to the area I blipped a fortnight ago. It is a top-floor flat with large, high-ceilinged rooms and fine views of the Arrochar Alps in the distance.

This is the view out to the rear where, traditionally, the 'back court' downstairs was where people hung out their washing and kept their bins, but I don't know if they still do that here.

What fascinated me was the metal flue-like contraption in the middle of the picture. It was open at the bottom, as if it was a chute, but it was the curved top that puzzled me.

Any suggestions?
