Ightham Mote.......
A wonderful day at this National Trust property in Kent, with a history covering nearly 700 years. Even older than my Harry Potter castle/school!
Built nearly 700 years ago, this house has seen many changes and been owned by Medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII and high society Victorians.
Highlights include the picturesque courtyard, Great Hall, crypt, Tudor painted ceiling, Grade I listed dog kennel and the private apartments of Charles Henry Robinson, who gave Ightham Mote to the National Trust in 1985.
We joined two talks about the history and the gardens before starting our tour. How these guides remember everything is amazing!
Just SO much to see and take in and be thrilled by....what to choose to share here! I've chosen the windows!
Three hours later we moved onto Otford for a dinner in public house almost as old.
(Actually...I feel quite young now!!)
