The mighty Isar

Our cycle tour took us over the border to Austria and the Tyrolean Alps to find the source or vorsprung of the Isar, the river that flows through Munich before joining the Danube at Degendorf.

It is an amazing colour, almost unnatural. It flows rapidly over white stone and sand.

Shortly after this picture was taken the heavens opened. There was donner and blitzen and we got soaked. We cycled back to the town of Sharniz and had Pizza. We then cycled back to Germany with no mark at the boarder other than some more dinging cows.
