Wide Angle Wednesday: Up Close and Personal

This exercise turned out to be a lot harder than I expected it to be and it seems I have really missed the boat altogether. I guess "personal" was the operative word. Duh! I tried a number of shots with a flower up close and my cousin's beautiful property in the background, but couldn't really make it work. I just couldn't get the focus right. I am wondering where I went wrong, so any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am trying to get psyched for the early morning flight, long trip home and return to the real world. Packing is done, and Tree Hugger and I are at the airport hotel in Melbourne. It's always hard to leave.
