Dame Muriel Spark in Prime Position

I was in Edinburgh today and took my hungry daughter to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery for lunch as a treat.
This elegant portrait of one of my favourite Scottish writers, Muriel Spark, as painted by Alexander Moffat, was looking down on us as we supped our overpriced bowls of soup.
