After the hilarity of the last few days a quiet sober blip today. The Calistemon is coming into flower and the ants seem to like playing hide and seek amongst the sepals.
I am trying to encourage this plant to have ambition and become a tree, it is now reaching two metres tall so it is well on its way.
The leaf that is intruding is from a rampant Maria Luisa (Lemon Verbena?) bush which I cut back hard in the autumn. It is probably the most vigorous shrub in the garden and smells divine. An infusion made from the leaves is believed to be a remedy for an upset tummy. I wonder if it works as a hangover cure?
