Happy Birthday!

Pentillie Castle - bloody wonderful!
Castle built in the 17th Century which has been restored inside to host weddings, B&B, theatre, music etc, and have occasional open days! The grounds are in the process of restoration and it is just phenomenal! This is the inside of the Bathing Hut on the banks of the Tamar , now used for wedding ceremonies etc! I also realised that I could see up to Halton Quay and that this Estate was what I had photographed on the way down to it and what I had seen when I looked down river - Geography never was my strong point!! See here for the views of........everything!!! ( Apart from what I still have to process and upload!!) See here for more info on the place! Built in 1698, 3 wings were demolished in 1967 as dated amenities and inheritance tax had to be paid.  I guess less castle meant less payment but what a scandal and sad loss.We were there 4 hours and I've been processing and uploading, cooking a birthday tea, supervising Milly and Tilly, rearranging weed in fish tank and talking to my aunt in Canada ever since!
My sister thinks I am obsessed - pot calling kettle black! Her suggestions to a) take less photographs b) blip the first nice one or only the one I think I want were met with incredulity and derision!!!! I knew which one I wanted but until I'd done nearly the lot who knows which one would have the blip factor?!! It was the one that upon taking the first photo of it had me squealing in pleasure! Many of the others any other day I would have been happy with - the flowers and views were so extraordinary, and the Mausoleum lovely with a cherub, skulls and portly gent!! The gent, Sir James Tillie, was wired  to a chair in his finest clothes, with his pipe, books and finest wines to spend his eternity looking over the Tamar River, at least until he was resurrected!! His remains were eventually found in a grave inside, with chair! Now he has a statue where he was sat!!
Sister had a lovely day she tells me - we took portly Lucy who also couldn't believe the world was so much bigger than she ever knew - over 7 years of only the village green had not prepared her for a 4 hour walk!! She is now soft round the edges after 3 glasses of Fizz and aching leg muscles! ( Sister not Lucy - though her stumpy legs may ache too!) She loved the cauliflower teapot and salt cellar from the vintage fair, she is now planning where and with what to display it!
Still smiling after day 2!!
P.S. Crocodile is especially for PhillattheBeach and Rooster for Nickimags888!!!
