The Easter...Snake???

Victoria bought a jar of little Easter eggs to decorate a  cake she was making. We got a bit of a surprise on opening it, and the label (which included the words "Happy Easter", so we didn't accidentally stray into the wrong aisle) confirms these are "chocolate micro eggs and jelly snakes".

My grasp of theology is woefully poor, but I don't recall any snakes in the Easter story. Is it some weird Old-New Testament fusion version, with the Serpent of Garden of Eden fame showing up?? Suggestions please!
