Great Asby Nature Reserve
A dull but necessary day today, tidied up the van & gave her* a good cleaning ready to put her on the market. She's been a fantastic little home from home for the last three years, but sadly makes little sense now we've got the apartment. Still I'll be sorry to see her go, its great knowing you *could* shoot off at any moment - and I guess that's still true. I'll just have to get that application in to the Climbers Club...
We let this morning's clag burn off & headed out mid afternoon with pooch - on a Bank Holiday weekend it seemed daft to go anywhere when where we live is so beautiful - so we headed out the back of the village and up into the Nature Reserve. We passed a few folk, one stupid individual who's dogs were terrorising the nesting grouse & skylarks, but soon had the place to ourselves. The limestone pavement here is one of the most environmentally important in the UK and its just starting to burst into life again, soon orchids and ferns will abound and little flowers will fight for space.
*When I bought the van I was earnestly told thst her name was Elsie. And so she has remained.
