Common Kingfisher

My friend the gorgeous Kingfisher! Sit over the other side from the river and like magic he appears from his river bank home, ready to catch & eat his supper. Before I saw a Kingfisher, here in Oman I thought they were a medium sized bird, say about the size of a Thrush, but they aren't! They are really quite small, but pack a visual punch with their beautiful colourful plumage and that massive fishing spear of a beak. There are three types of Kingfisher in Oman!
