Stonehenge

As if this picture needed a title, these must be the most photographed rocks in the UK!

My day started with dropping Isobel, Mollie and Freya at Swindon Outlet Centre, which gave me a chance to visit Imber in Salisbury Plain on one of the few days in the year it is open to the public.

Imber village was commandeered by the army in WWII as an urban warfare training ground and all the inhabitants were forced to move out.  Unfortunately at the end of the war they were not allowed to move back and it has remained vacant and closed off to the public ever since; except for a few days each year when the village is reopened.   There were some of the original inhabitants visiting today which made it even more poignant.

As it was so close, I drove on to Stonehenge; another derelict monument to the past!
