Chippy

Chippy, as I've named our local Greater Spotted Woodpecker, is in the mood for love. He's found himself a dead willow tree and spent all day chiseling out a love nest. But when he tries to persuade Mrs Chippy to come and take a closer look she says she's got a headache. Ironic, considering he's spent all day beating his head against a tree. But that doesn't put Chippy off. He carries on regardless, convinced that she'll change her mind once his hole is big enough. Chippy's got wood.
