Semana Santa - Good Friday

We went to the Good Friday procession tonight - it was INCREDIBLE. I actually found it really moving...each local church had their own statue of Jesus - each one taking 18 people to carry it! Each one then had a band too, with drums so loud and deep I could feel my chest vibrating, loads of people doing the procession barefooted too...swaying and shuffling down the tiny Dalt Vila streets, in pretty intimidating costumes! We watched from 8,30 and an hour and a half later, the procession had shuffled past us....then at 11,30 we came to the Dalt Vila ramp (here blipped) and the procession was only just beginning to make it's way out of the city! Those poor people must have been cream crackered! At 1am they still hadn't finished the route...
It was so effective though, and really had a sense of a death march... Because I'm quite a visual person and I really like symbolism, it all resonated with me, and I just felt so overwhelmingly grateful for Jesus' sacrifice.

Today I'm grateful for;
1) Knowing Jesus.
2) Living in Ibiza.
3) Hugs and kisses with the guys in THE café when we popped in tonight. Such a lovely welcome!
