The Least Skipper
Ancloxpha numitor
This is the Least Skipper butterfly, spotted at Lenape Park. He was kind enough to sit still for a portrait while I fumbled with my camera. I couldn't have told you whether it was a moth or a butterfly until a very good website called Butterflies and Moths of North America cleared up the question. They are very informative and have lots of pictures with which to make a comparison.
The heat index here in NJ has been off the charts for May and I'm finding it very difficult to stay outdoors for longer than a half hour. Even the birds at Lenape are on the down low.
Hope eveyone is enjoying their Tuesday, and a very special happy birthday to Bruce, my 1968 St. Gen's classmate and friend.
