Battle

...of the Starfish.

Traveling back home to Denbigh I made a short detour down to the beach at Rhyl, where I change from the train to the bus. Among the Cormorants, Oystercatchers, waders and gulls it was this tussle over a starfish which caught my eye. There was some determined tugging from both parties before the adult gull emerged with the spoils. 

While still on the train, and a few miles back along the coast in the Dee Estuary, I saw my first Shelducks and Little Egret of the year and I'm sure there would have been more to see had I been able to linger.
