Yes it is THAT time of year again.
The beekeeping year is just about to begin in earnest. One of the first things the bees will need is a supply of fresh beeswax foundation from which they very cleverly draw out their new combs.
I have spent the day melting down blocks of beeswax that have been turned in to the rectangular flat sheets of wax impressed with the typical hexagon shape of the bee cells.
These sheets are then placed on the board and a strengthening strip of wire is stretched over the top and has electricity run through it from the battery charger. This is just sufficient to heat up the wire and cause it to embed itself in the wax.
