Ambleside
They say there is no such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothing.
The case was proved today as I traveled to Langdale in the Lake District to measure a marathon.
I'd heard of its reputation for being a very scenic challenging course.
Correct on both counts!
Even in the rain that never let up the views were spectacular, and so we're the hills.
By some considerable margin I would describe Langdale Marathon as the most challenging in Britain.
Now if you don't feel up to the full marathon you could settle for one lap and do the half marathon, probably the toughest half in the UK.
On the way back I got this shot in Ambleside.
I'll be back in Langdale in July to finish the measurement.
