That sort of day
Wet - from start to finish - from London to Lichfield to Nottingham.
Last night's production of "Sweeney Todd" at the Coliseum was magnificent. I'm not normally a big fan of Sondheim (apart from "Send in the Clowns") but this was terrific. Bryn Terfel - nuff said - and Emma Thompson, who isn't a known mezzo soprano, but who is the world's best performer. Skilled timing, brilliant comedy, and clearly having the time of her life.
The Holborn chaos continued and we ended up walking quite a long way back to the hotel - but it was all worth it.
And the anticipated travel problems didn't turn out to be as bad as I'd feared. I caught an earlier train from Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street and then on to International to collect my car. Comfy and not too crowded.
Better than anticipated.
But that wasn't the case with Forest's game against the Wolves. Nuff said......
