A sad day

2years 221days

Such a sad day today. We walked into the nursery this morning and everything in the entrance was packed away. The hallways looked fairly normal. I got into her nursery room and filled up- the artwork had been taken from all but one notice board, two of the staff were stood in tears and the offices and staff room were full of people packing boxes.

I went back this afternoon and had a meeting with the manager to start the process of attemtping to get back my prepaid fees. She had a cry, I had a cry and then I oferred to do a staff photo for them all. As Katie finished her tea, I went to see a couple of the staff who had been scheduled to start maternity .

When I went in the room, Katie was sat between her two best nursery friends. The staff said today was heart breaking for them - the three girls had a wonderful day together and played so beautifully. We all then went into the baby room and the whole nursery sang together before I took the staff photo. There were teary ones who managed to compose themselves for the photo, so this is our girls as we remember them. Katie had lots of cuddles with several staff, they all came up and said goodbye to her.

Maike dropped off her folders and bags for me as we were on the bike (although it broke and we had to get it taken home, get a bus back). I've been reading through her smile file and it was rather sad. Every observation talks about how happy and smiley she is and how well she's made friends with both the staff and children. And how clever my little monkey is. I am so proud of some of the targets she has met. I am also hugely grateful to the staff who have worked, unpaid largely, so very hard to make our children feel loved, settled and happy, and have suceeded in that. I really feel for them in the situation they have been in and are now in.

A really sad day.
