The French Naval vessel Laplace joins the Royal Yacht Britannia in Western Harbour.

A Lapérouse-class Hydrographic Survey Vessel, this ship is one of three named after famous French scientists - in this case Pierre-Simon Laplace, the eminent and prolific mathematician and astronomer considered to be the Gallic equivalent to Sir Isaac Newton.
