In hoc signo vinces

A long time since I was taught any Latin phrases, but this one always stuck with me. A translation of sorts features at the feet of this bronze statue outside York Minster - Constantine, By This Sign Conquer. Constantine the Great was proclaimed Roman Emperor in York in 306 and this wonderful statue was erected in 1998 - it looks even better now than it did then. So many angles to capture this figure from, but I quite liked this one with a little bit of the Minster in the background, caught whilst waiting for my family and friends this afternoon. More facets of Constantine will undoubtedly feature in future blips.
