Wood Duck
The wood duck shares it's genus with the Asian Mandarin duck. They usually nest in cavities in trees close to the water. Unlike most other ducks, they have sharp claws for perching in trees.
The adult male has distinctive multicolored iridescent plumage and red eyes, with a distinctive white flare down the neck
