Diary of an Edinburgher

Could have been worse...

Archie and I spent the whole morning out in the front garden in the sun. He was harrumphing as people went by. Just little gruffs - enough to give his opinion on people with loud voices, or clumpy shoes, or prams, but not enough to set off the annoying vibrations on his anti-bark collar.

I sorted out my shed - stacked the remaining wood tidily and made lots of room for stuff from the hall cupboard - tins of paint etc.

D and wee baby R came by, out for a stroll in the sunshine. Archie made himself scarce, though R did not make a peep. I think possibly, it's a man's voice that he's not sure of... He's such a woos!

We hung the washing out in the back garden, and Archie didn't go in the flower beds, but got the football out and charged around. And came in when he was called. The first time he sees Tinkerbelle (the neighbour's cat) out there is going to be interesting, but I don't want him chasing her. She thinks it's her space...

When JR came home, we went up Blackford Hill. It was warm! Archie hasn't been sick in the car for a long time now... Has he got over it?

He met a huge Newfoundland dog, Cleo, about the size of a donkey. They had a little play, but when she got too frisky, his little face changed fast and he came running back to his mums. I suppose he knew she was actually a dog...

I have just discovered a chewed up end-of-year statement from Barclaycard (which I was going to file) all over the lounge floor... I thought Archie was with JR, helping with the ironing, but in fact, he was helping himself to 'titbits' from the coffee table...

Funnily enough, I had thought to remove the holiday (luxury cruise on the Rhine) euros this morning. So it could have been worse. Much worse.

Does he look bovvered?

Four more sleeps on dry land...
