Ilomantsi municipal hall (built in 1985)

This is where my work post/"headquarters" are located in, although I will spend four out of five days a week in the field visiting properties.

It seems like the 80's were an active, optimistic and in some cases maybe even borderline delusional time for a lot of Finnish rural municipalities, especially when it comes to building new municipalities halls for such relatively small (population-wise) places. Since then the population has gone down on most such places and a lot of civic positions have been cut. In Ilomantsi (population around 5800) they seem to have managed to keep the office space occupied quite well, at least compared to Rääkkylä, where one morning I was the only person on my floor.
