Bayeux Architecture
Perhaps a slightly pretentious title, but the old center of Bayeux--which was not bombed despite the 1944 invasion--conveys a distinct sense of style. We were returning from a visit to the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy--also a pretentious title but given the titanic importance of the Normany invasion I gladly forgive it. The museum is extensive, and very well done--one more reason for visiting the wonderful town of Bayeux.
We lunched at one more excellent restaurant, and returned on an afternoon fast train (2 hours and 10 minutes) to Paris. It really feels like returning home--all the more poignant since we return to Northampton in a few days.
