An ordinary life....

Goodbye March...

Backblip

Last day of March already.  I really don't know where the time is going.

Spotted this little azalea in bloom in the garden this morning and made the effort to blip it as this is the last time it will herald the spring from that spot as, all being well, the changing room for Alan's pool will be built right on that spot.

Weather has been a bit crazy again.  Four seasons in one hour never mind a day.    Fairly humdrum day until 6.30 when we had a visit from Helen, the woman who is going to be redesigning our kitchen.  (This work is being undertaken at the same time as building of the hydrotherapy pool and garden room.)  There's a fair bit of work involved in the new kitchen including knocking down two walls (one internal and one external) moving the Aga, raising part of the ceiling, moving the door and fitting a velux window.

The part I am most excited about though is a new accessible work area for Alan where he can sit properly with his knees underneath (rather that side saddle as he does at the moment) and make cakes, cookies and tray bakes to his heart's content.

The architect is just about to complete the detailed drawings that will go to the planning department, the QS is pricing the job (not looking forward to that email!) and once planning permission is granted (approx 8 weeks) we can put the job out to tender, with a start date (hopefully) of early autumn.

It's not going to be fun getting the work done so I just keep focussing on the end result.  Hydrotherapy every day should Alan want it (I am sure he will!) a garden room with easy access to the side garden, which will in itself be landscaped to make it fully accessible for Alan, with raised beds (he can grow his own potatoes!! :-))) and a new accessible kitchen where he can make as much mess as he likes (within reason! :-)

Exciting and no doubt stressful times ahead :D
