A room with a view

Today is our last day down south; we are driving back north this evening, once the traffic has quietened down, that is!

We had planned to take a trip to Hurst Castle today, but after our escapades yesterday, and having been kept awake half the night with the wind, our fervour is somewhat dampened this morning. The weather was bright and sunny when we got up but only 9 degrees!

Whilst looking out the patio doors, we caught a glimpse of their resident woodpeckers, Bertie and Gertie, but they weren't too keen on sticking around as Purdy (their cat) was on the prowl! After breakfast we took a drive out to a local plant nursery and couldn't resist a little spend :-) just one or two nice little plants.

I thought I'd share this view from sis and BiLs attic bedroom, looking out across the River Itchen, which flows down into the Solent. They also have a great view of their beloved Southampton FC ground, St Mary's. During the warmer months when sitting out on their patio, you can hear the roar of the crowd as it comes across the river, after they score!!!

It's been a lovely visit, as always, time to load up the car, before the rain starts this evening, if the forecast is right.....hope not, would prefer to drive back without that!
