This is the box I made at the NCWA box-making class on Saturday. I didn't have time to start on the lid, so I've been working on that in my shop today.
Most of the work was done using power tools, but the chamfering of the lid was done by hand, using my trusty 54-year-old Stanley (made in England) plane. I'd just recently sharpened the iron, and I enjoyed seeing the thin shavings curling onto the bench.
I'll start the finishing with a coat of shellac -- a traditional product made from a resin secreted by the female lac bug.
The lid also needs a handle to finish it off!
