Leicester's Church
These are the ruins of the first great Protestant church to be built in Britain after the reformation. It was built by Robert Dudley ,Earl of Leicester, Baron of Denbigh and a favourite of Queen Elizabeth 1.
The church was designed for puritan worship and Dudley wanted the church to replace St Hillary's Chapel the older catholic church nearby. However he died in 1588 and his church was never completed.
